Thank you so much. I am mega excited to be here as well because, Kylie, you are one of my most favorite humans that I only met, what, a couple of months ago?
Kylie Kelly [00:01:03]:
Oh, I love that so much. I have to say, for everyone listening, when we first connected, we have so much in similar. It’s like when you just meet someone that yeah. I don’t know. You’re meant to meet. Right? Like, it was so, yeah, so good.
Leanne [00:01:16]:
Totally. And now I can’t imagine you not being in my
Kylie Kelly [00:01:19]:
life. Oh, I love that so much. Okay. So before before we start gushing over each other, do you wanna share with the listeners a little bit about yourself, who you are, what you do, all the good things?
Leanne [00:01:29]:
Of course. So I’m Lianne. I’m a business coach and hype woman. I’m based in the UK, but I work with clients all over the world. I work with female coaches and help them step into the big deal energy and create a business that gives them a multitude of holy fuck, is this really happening moments?
Kylie Kelly [00:01:48]:
Gosh, I love that. And yes, swearing is allowed on this podcast. I cuss all the time, so please don’t hold back. And we’re going to be digging into that today, which I think is really powerful because I I don’t know, we’d all wanna step into our big deal energy, but, like, where do you get started with that? Like, how do you actually make that a reality? Like, where do you wanna start with this?
Leanne [00:02:08]:
I think the first thing to start with is that just being aware that it’s okay if you’re not in your big deal energy at first. It’s it’s something that we almost have to train our brains to get into and train our body to be able to step into as well. So when you’re not in your big deal energy, you’re probably spending a lot of time in fear mode, catastrophizing. Obviously, we’re talking about business owners here, so thinking that the worst is going to happen and not showing up for your business in the way that you really wish that you could. That’s what it’s like when you’re not in your big deal energy.
Kylie Kelly [00:02:42]:
So how would you define big deal energy?
Leanne [00:02:45]:
It’s that feeling that you are fucking good enough and that fantastic things are gonna happen for you.
Kylie Kelly [00:02:52]:
I just love that because it’s so funny when I think about that. I can imagine or remember certain times when I felt that way, but it’s definitely not a thing that I consistently feel. Right? Especially in the ups and downs of not just business, but life in general. Life has been life in pretty hard for me the last couple of weeks, the last month, and it’s like hard to shift, I think, when life feels hard, it’s hard to shift from that into a bigger, a bigger, even a more positive energy. Right? Like, what do you think? Okay. So I’m gonna ask a question here. What do you think it takes then to go from just getting through the everyday, you know, to that big deal energy.
Leanne [00:03:39]:
Yeah. You have to actively make a choice. And that’s something that I help my clients do. It’s like, you get to decide. Right? Because we get to decide the thoughts that we think on purpose. And those thoughts create our reality because of the actions that we take. So if we’re spending a lot of time, like, thinking that the worst is going to happen and no one’s bothered, no one’s interested, no one’s going to buy my thing, or this is going to be really hard, then obviously, the outcome isn’t gonna be one that we really want. And we and we our brains love to lie to us, especially when we’re business owners, and we might have done work on our own mindset in the past.
Leanne [00:04:18]:
However, when you put yourself out there and say, I want to be successful as hell, our brain goes into fear mode, and it doesn’t want us to do it. Literally just wants us to sit on the sofa watching Married at First Sight, which my brain loves me to do, and not move the needle in our businesses. So I think it’s actively knowing that that is what our brain wants us to do, but if we want a different outcome, we need to take control and see, no, this is how we are going to act. This is what we’re going to think on purpose. So you always have a choice. Right? Like, it’s a practice that I do every morning is, do I want to be in my not me energy? That’s what I call it. Do I want to be in my not me energy as in no one wants to work with me? Don’t look at me. No one’s interested.
Leanne [00:05:05]:
Do I want to be in that energy, or do I want to be in my big deal energy? And there are actual ways that I will step into that. And it’s ways, Kylie, that you’re probably thinking sounds so simple that it can’t possibly work, but honestly, it totally can.
Kylie Kelly [00:05:22]:
Oh my goodness. So you’re gonna have to share those now. So what what are some of those ways?
Leanne [00:05:26]:
Do you mind sharing? Big deal energy, and it looks different for everyone. Okay? So what works for me is that I put my power song on. I’ve got a song that, at the minute, it’s a Taylor Swift song from her Reputation album. I
Kylie Kelly [00:05:40]:
could one of them Stop. Sorry. I was listening to this just yesterday because I needed to change the way I was feeling, and it was that album of of Tay Tay. I oh my gosh. I love it.
Leanne [00:05:50]:
God. Obviously, because we’re totally in sync. Just opposite sides of the world. So I put that album on, and it switches up my energy straight away. Normally, I’m in the shower, and I’m literally given a big Taylor Swift in the shower. I get out. I’m a completely different person. Another thing that I do to really amp up my big deal energy on the morning is potentially listen to a really uplifting podcast or kind of getting ready meditation.
Leanne [00:06:21]:
There’s one of Amanda Francis’ that I absolutely adore. You cannot not listen to this, and I’m sure you’ll share it in the show notes, Kylie. You can’t not listen to this Amanda Francis meditation and not feel better about yourself. Also, I wear clothes that put me in my big deal energy. I wear earrings and headbands and just on purpose do things that will put me into my big deal energy.
Kylie Kelly [00:06:51]:
I love that. And then when you’re in that energy, I like, the actions that you take are different. Right? They
Leanne [00:06:57]:
it’s Absolutely.
Kylie Kelly [00:06:58]:
Produces you’d see it all the time with your clients even. Right? It would produce way bigger, better results because we’re not living in this state of fear. Even, you know, even if we’re there unintentionally. Right? Even if we’re like, oh, I’m so tired or, oh, that’s always my complaint. Right? I’m so tired or I don’t wanna do this. Or like you said, let’s go watch maths on the couch. Like, even if we’re living there unintentionally, and that’s just, because life feels easy, our brain likes to tell us this is where it’s comfortable. So even if we’re there, the actions that we’re taking would be so different than if we actually are stepping in to that big deal energy.
Kylie Kelly [00:07:35]:
I love that.
Leanne [00:07:36]:
Absolutely. The thing is you always know what you and your big deal energy would be doing in any situation. It’s something that I say to my clients all the time. We call it big deal energy or you 2.0. So, for example, if my client was having a wobble about speaking on stage, then I would say to them, so Kylie, what would you and your Big Deal Energy do? How would she feel? How would she react to being invited to speak on stage? What would she be doing to prep herself? What would she be wearing? You already know the answers. You know your big deal energy inside out. So it’s so easy for you to take action from that place because you already know what you would be doing.
Kylie Kelly [00:08:22]:
I love that. You know, I’ve heard a similar thing, you know, when we’re aiming for more income. Let’s say we have a goal, like we wanna go and buy this new car or whatever. It’s like be the woman that drives the car or be the woman that earns that much or and I always found that really hard because it just feels like me pretending I’m being somebody else. But I love the way you’re explaining this because it’s like, no, no, no. You are that person.
Leanne [00:08:44]:
You are. We’re just
Kylie Kelly [00:08:46]:
doing things to feel like that person. Mhmm.
Leanne [00:08:49]:
Absolutely. And it works. On so many occasions, I’ve had my clients come back to me and say, Leanne, you know what? I was really nervous about doing this. I, like, I had a client who was speaking on a Caribbean cruise last week for God’s sake. And she was like, I just thought what would she’s called Marie. Like, what would Marie in her 2.0 in her big deal energy do? And it’s straight away. It just seems to flick a switch and you know what to do. And it’s almost like you you can embody that woman wherever you are in your business.
Leanne [00:09:21]:
You don’t need to wait until you’ve hit those goals to become her. She’s already a part of you, And you know that because you know her inside out. You know exactly what to do.
Kylie Kelly [00:09:31]:
I love that so much. So I guess anyone listening that’s like wants to play with this, because I feel like it’s something you can play with and then see how it feels. Right? Like trying on a dress, like you can try it on. What would be the first step? How would they figure out, or do you have any questions they could ask themselves to figure out, like, what they need to do? Is it the Taylor Swift thing? Is it the how could they work this out?
Leanne [00:09:51]:
I think the first thing that I would do would be to think about what you actually like, what’s a big goal that you want? So for example, a lot of coaches come to me and they’re like, Lianne, I want to be fully booked. I want to have a wait list. And I’ll then say to them, okay, I want you to imagine you and your big deal energy, you’ve got the wait list, you’ve had the biggest revenue months you’ve ever had, like you’ve literally booked that holiday and paid for it yourself. What did you and your big deal energy, that 2.0 version of you, what she have to do to bring in that level of success? And they already know what she did. So it’s just a case of, right, she did that. How can I start doing that from today?
Kylie Kelly [00:10:33]:
And taking it one step at a time, I’m guessing. Like even the smallest step to start.
Leanne [00:10:37]:
The smallest steps. So there’s that mindset piece of, okay, what did she actually do to bring in those things that you wanted? And then on the daily, how can you then step into that big deal energy on the daily? Maybe before you’re even ready to find out what your power song is, what song do you have on your phone that, without a doubt, it gets you off your chair? You cannot get up and start dancing around and power posing when you hear that song. Start listening to that song every day to switch up your energy. Not all of us roll out of bed as a CEO. Right? I certainly don’t. I’m not a rock star coach as soon as I wake up. I have to be coke. And it’s almost like when you actively choose to step into your big deal energy, even if you’re not feeling it when you’re stepping into it on the daily while listening to your power song or or wearing a perfume that you and your big deal energy would wear, by the time you’ve done those things, you’re going to be in it.
Leanne [00:11:40]:
It’s almost like getting dressed to be in your big deal energy. It makes such a difference.
Kylie Kelly [00:11:47]:
Oh, I love that. Yeah. I love that. Because I think it’s easy for people to see from the outside just think
Leanne [00:11:54]:
that, gosh,
Kylie Kelly [00:11:54]:
you must be like that all the time. I am not like that in the morning. I am not a morning person. Like, it it takes you know, I always remember people asking me, like, what’s your morning routine? It’s like, I’ve got 2 young kids. Like, my morning routine is a cup of coffee, like, and trying to keep them quiet while I wake up. Like, that’s my morning routine. So, like, I like the fact that you said as well, like, it doesn’t have you don’t have to feel it straight away. It’s like this habit, this process, this routine that you build in.
Leanne [00:12:18]:
And you can show up in your big deal energy. I know I know we’re not huge fans of we are fans of social media, but we were both on the same page and that it doesn’t need to be the be all and end all of your business. But try showing up in your big deal energy online or in your emails. Like, just think about like, okay, what would me and my big deal energy see in this email today? What would she say in this caption? Just start having to play with it and seeing how you show up differently. Are you more fun? Are you more vulnerable? Are you funnier when you’re in your big deal energy? Because I just feel like, for so many of us, were uncomfortable getting into our big deal energy because as a society, we’re told to just be quiet, be a good girl, be like everyone else, but there’s nothing more powerful and magnetic than a woman in her big deal energy. I want more women to be in their big deal energy every fricking day because why not?
Kylie Kelly [00:13:19]:
So I’m scared of that. I feel like me, my big deal energy is so opinionated. I probably get myself into trouble.
Leanne [00:13:24]:
You gotta do it Kylie. You gotta do it.
Kylie Kelly [00:13:26]:
Right? Like, so I think it’s so hard. The people pleaser in me. Right? Like, you I wanna make everyone happy. I don’t wanna annoy or, you know, offend anyone or but I bet me and my Big Deal Energy would have some pretty
Leanne [00:13:39]:
strong body. Yes. Exactly. So you already know her inside out. What else would she be doing, Kylie? Do you think you’re you’re the big deal energy version of you?
Kylie Kelly [00:13:48]:
Yeah. So I think it’s interesting that we’re having this conversation today because I’ve just been talking to my husband about how for the longest time I felt like, you know, I was trying to fit in, you know, like it kind of feels, sometimes online business feels like a school, right? Like it’s like back at school and there’s the popular girls and there’s the bullies and there’s me trying to hide in the library and not, you know, like stay out of trouble. Like, and I was just talking to him about it the other day with some other stuff that’s happening. And he said, no, no, no, no. You got to remember this is your school. You’re the head teacher. Like you get to choose who comes into your school, what books get put on the shelf. Like, you make the rules.
Kylie Kelly [00:14:25]:
And I feel like that is my my big deal energy. It’s like I get to wear what the fuck I want. I don’t have to wear, like, the popular like, my website doesn’t have to look like it’s in the popular brand colors and, like, it could be fucking pink and purple. And, like, I could have opinions and share them and not care what people think. Like, that’s who I would love to be, but I do care. Like, how do you then get over that?
Leanne [00:14:47]:
I used to I’m a recovering people pleaser. I was, like, a big people pleaser, a big guiltaholic. And I think as a mom, you always feel guilty, don’t you? But I was a big guiltaholic, and I think Lianne and her big deal energy has really good boundaries, and they work both ways. So those so if I do anything that might up I would never intentionally upset anyone. I’m not that kind of human just like you, Juan. But if someone’s offended by me swearing or my opinions or my brand colors, then they’re just not my people, and I’m not the person for them. I had someone who actually said something about me swearing on my website, and she made a comment in a Facebook group I was in. And she was like, oh, I would never work with a coach who might drop the casual f bomb into a conversation.
Leanne [00:15:41]:
And at first, you know what? That people pleaser in me was horrified. I was on my knees. My stomach dropped because I was like, oh my god. I’ve done something wrong. I’ve done something offensive. Then Lianne Lianne and her big deal energy had to come in. She was like, Lianne, your people love that you swear. They fucking love it.
Leanne [00:16:00]:
So she’s not the client for you, and you’re not the coach for her, and that’s okay. And I think we we we all need to remember that. Like, we’re not meant to appeal to everyone. It’s okay to have a filter. So maybe, Kylie, like, your opinions, your brand colors, they’re a filter. Right? Filters are a good thing because you can’t work with everyone anyway. You’re not lacking clients. You’re not lacking people in your membership.
Leanne [00:16:26]:
I wonder what would happen if you would lend into Kylie and her Big Deal energy a bit more, and you could potentially even magnetize people who were more like you, who loved your opinions, who loved your colors.
Kylie Kelly [00:16:40]:
Oh, yeah. I love that. It’s so funny because, as you know, I’m all about email marketing. And when it comes to that, it’s always like people unsubscribe. Right? And I’m always telling my members and anyone that’s, like, stuck in looking at that. Like, oh my gosh, people are leaving. Like, that’s good. We want them to leave.
Kylie Kelly [00:16:53]:
We can’t. And it’s so funny. I have this conversation about a in a different
Leanne [00:16:56]:
way about email.
Kylie Kelly [00:16:56]:
But you’re so true. It applies to everything. And it’s like, oh, I’m I’m yeah. I’m tempted to play and and see. Stay tuned. Stay
Leanne [00:17:11]:
tuned. Fantastic. I think a big thing that comes up when we’re a business owner is rejection. Right? This fear of rejection, whether it’s people unsubscribing, people unfollowing, people people putting shitty comments on our posts or whatever. And this fear of rejection holds a lot of people back, doesn’t it, from from maybe being more of themselves, maybe being more in their big deal energy. However, my question for you, and I guess our listeners, is how would you and your big deal energy cope with that fear of rejection? Would it be something that you give a shit about?
Kylie Kelly [00:17:49]:
No. There’s no. You wouldn’t, would you? Because you have the right people being drawn to you so they could just, you know, f off, really.
Leanne [00:17:58]:
Yeah. Yeah.
Kylie Kelly [00:17:58]:
Yeah. You wouldn’t care.
Leanne [00:18:00]:
You and your big deal energy, you’ve got your own back because you 100% know your worth and that is a huge part of big deal energy. It’s knowing your worth and knowing that you’re allowed to take up space and take a seat at that table.
Kylie Kelly [00:18:14]:
This wasn’t meant to be a personal coaching session, by the way, but I just love that we’ve As an example. That. Yeah. Of course. Of course. No. That’s really, really helpful. And again, like we said before, it could start with small steps.
Kylie Kelly [00:18:27]:
It doesn’t have to be being that a 100% version straight away can be a small step to get comfortable. Right?
Leanne [00:18:34]:
Yeah. I love I I love thinking about, like, the power song, but also, like, you could look at your branding as well, Kylie, and be like, not you. I’m talking about the listeners. But you could look at your branding and think, am I in my big deal energy in that branding, or am I in my not me energy? Are we playing it safe being pretty vanilla and vague? Or or am I actually standing out and saying, hey, I’m a big deal. Look at me. There’s so many ways you can bring your big deal energy into your business. And it really, really gives you, like, such a boost of confidence. It’s almost like a confidence hack.
Leanne [00:19:13]:
You step into your big deal energy on the days that you’re working in your business, you’re going to get more done. You’re going to feel you’re going to feel more motivated because you know that that version of you, she gets shit done. She moves the needle.
Kylie Kelly [00:19:27]:
I think as well, when you were just talking about the branding and being vanilla and all of that blending in, for anybody that’s listening that is finding it hard to stand out online. Right? When we think about the online space and how oversaturated some niches are, when they’re thinking about, like, oh, I I don’t even feel like I stand out. Like, this is how you could stand out. Step into this version of you. Be fully yourself Yeah. And you stand out automatically because there’s no other there’s no other you.
Leanne [00:19:58]:
Because you are your USP. You are your unique selling point. Because let’s face it, there’s so many people that do what I do. There’s people that do what you do, Kylie. But there’s no one that does it like you. And there’s no one that does it like me. We are why people come to us. Right? They can learn very similar strategies from other people.
Leanne [00:20:17]:
So the more we show our uniqueness and our personal branding and in our in our emails, on our website, the more magnetic we are and the more our people, the right people that like swearing, they’re gonna connect with us.
Kylie Kelly [00:20:34]:
Absolutely. So, Lianne, how did you discover this? Can I ask, we did you struggle with this yourself before you found, like, these I don’t wanna say secrets or hacks, but, like, this way of tapping into this part of you? Like, what was that journey like for you?
Leanne [00:20:52]:
Oh, I had a loud inner critic, Kylie. Really, really loud. And my inner critic and my feeling of not being good enough for the life that I had, I felt like I wasn’t deserving of the life that I had. It gave me major health anxiety for a lot of years until, I think, 2019. And I tried therapy. I’d had hypnotherapy, lots of different things. And it wasn’t until my therapist at the time said, Liat, the reason why you’re feeling like this is because you don’t feel worthy of the life that you’ve got. And I had a good life, but I didn’t feel worthy of it, so I always thought something was going to go wrong.
Leanne [00:21:34]:
That’s why my brain gave me health anxiety because you couldn’t spend 247 worrying about things going wrong when you think you’re gonna die. So what I started to do was I started to practice self care, and I’d never ever been in a self care, really. For me, self care was just having a night off from socializing. My way of feeling good about myself was through validation from other people. I used people like validation vendor machines, not on purpose, but it was all about being a people pleaser and wanting other people to like me. I kind of went cold turkey from that and instead tried to validate myself. So I started doing yoga to feel good. I started seeing no to people.
Leanne [00:22:20]:
I started setting boundaries. Just started to really cultivate this sense of self worth and self love that I’d never ever had before and it changed my life. I quit my corporate job, trained as a coach, and I thought, you know, I was felt good enough. I felt worthy enough. I felt like I didn’t need to do that much mindset work. But then when I striked to grow my business and get visible, oh my god, Kylie, my inner critic saw a chink in my armor, and it came through loud and clear every day about why I shouldn’t build my business. Came through in came through in many ways that seemed believable, like, Leanne, no one’s ever gonna buy from you. No one wants to work with you.
Leanne [00:23:04]:
You’re boring. There’s no point in doing this. Go back to corporate. You can never a girl from your town can never make it work. You’re not special enough. So much, I like to call it fake news, about why my business was never going to work for me. And I listened to it for a long time and made very small mediocre moves in my business. And then I kinda got a kick in the arse, up the arse when my hubby was like, Liana, if you don’t start making money in your business, you’re gonna have to go back to your corporate job.
Leanne [00:23:34]:
And I really did not want to do that because I love coaching. I love the power of coaching. And I realized that my inner critic had started taking over my business. I was using my inner critic as a business coach, taking all of my advice from it. And then I knew that there had to be another way. So I had to actively choose to not believe all the bullshit my inner critic was saying to me about all the reasons it’s not gonna work, and I had to think another way. And that’s where the big deal energy piece came in. I started to ask myself, what would Lianne who really believes and trusts in herself, what would she be doing today? What steps would she be taking in her business to move the needle? And it was a game changer. It just got so easy from then.
Kylie Kelly [00:24:22]:
Oh my goodness. I think we can all relate to that inner critic voice. And I know that we’d never wish it on anyone, but it’s also kinda comforting that our inner critics all sound the same. Don’t they? Like, they
Leanne [00:24:32]:
Yeah. They do. They do. Crazy. My clients my clients, when I talk to them about their inner critic, they look at me. It’s and they’re like, how how the hell do you know what my inner critic is saying, Lianne? Are you in my head? And it’s like, girl, everyone’s inner critic is the same, all saying the same shit to us. That’s how I know it’s directly from your inner critic. It’s because it says the same things.
Leanne [00:24:57]:
And it’s there to do a job. Right? It wants to keep us safe because it’s our brains hate doing anything that we’ve never done before, and it hates us doing things that exert unnecessary amounts of energy. I mean, being an entrepreneur, it does both of those things. Right? You’ve got to get out of your comfort zone every day practically. You’re doing things that you don’t want to do, or you’re doing new things that you’ve never done before every day that take up a lot of mental and sometimes physical energy. Building a business is a red flag to our inner critic. It does not want to do it because it’s scared, shitless of being rejected, of being judged, of being disappointed. It brings up a lot of fear for our inner critic.
Leanne [00:25:39]:
But what we need to do is to know that that voice is just trying to keep us safe. It doesn’t know what’s best for us, and it doesn’t actually care that we want to build a hugely successful business. It’s not on the same page as us. Just wants us to stop and stay small. So we have to actively acknowledge that. We’ve got an inner critic. It’s almost like you can treat it like a child and be like, it’s okay. You know? Like, me sending this email isn’t gonna kill us.
Leanne [00:26:08]:
It’s okay. This is what we want. You kinda gotta tap it on its head and and and and soothe it rather than listen to it and think that everything it’s saying is the truth. Because 99% of the time, what it’s saying to you on the daily about you not being good enough, it’s bullshit.
Kylie Kelly [00:26:27]:
Oh, yeah. Yeah. I remember, I used to really like when I was a wedding photographer, the introvert in me used to get so scared of that group photo. You know when you go to a wedding and after the ceremony, they get a group photo with all of their guests, then imagine you’re the photographer at the very front of a 100, a 150 people. Look at the camera like it’s fucking terrifying. And I when I first started doing that, I used to, like, imagine all these things going wrong. Right? Like, oh my gosh. I’m gonna fall over in front of all of these people.
Kylie Kelly [00:26:56]:
Oh my god. Photos are gonna turn out. Oh my God. I’m gonna be so embarrassed. Like, and I’d lose sleep over it. The morning of the wedding, I wouldn’t be able to eat. Like, it was horrendous. But what used to get me through was like, imagine that happens.
Kylie Kelly [00:27:11]:
Let’s say, let’s say worst case, like I fall on my ass, my dress goes over my head. Like, it’s so embarrassing. Would you survive? Well, yeah, I wouldn’t enjoy it, but yeah, I’d be okay. Alright. Let’s just, let’s just try then. Let’s just try. And that got me through so many weddings where if I had have just listened to the stories my brain was making up, I would have, just bailed, right? And stayed home and like watch maths, like not going out that day. Right? So I think sometimes, and not saying that that’s, I think stepping into big deal energy is a much better way to do it.
Kylie Kelly [00:27:50]:
But I think sometimes as well when we get stuck in that thought process, sometimes thinking about the worst case and going like, okay, if that happens, would I be okay? And you always would be. Right?
Leanne [00:28:01]:
Yeah. Yeah. It’s almost like you’ve got a safety net if you’ve already thought about it, the process of, like, what’s the worst that could happen? How would I actually cope with this? Then if you figure that out, then you can crack on with doing the scary thing because you know what you would do in the event of the worst happening.
Kylie Kelly [00:28:19]:
Yeah. And let me just say that never happened. I never fell in my ass. Like, none it never happened. So that’s, you know, 10 10 years of shooting.
Leanne [00:28:27]:
What’s so interesting is that when our brain, like, as we’ve just said, it loves to focus on the worst case scenario. Funnily enough, what it never seems to do is to focus on the best case scenario. That’s something else that I would love our listeners to think about. Is if you are ruminating over the worst case scenario on something, please, for the love of Taylor Swift, please consider the best possible outcome because that’s a game changer in itself. You’ve gotta have the yin with the yang girl.
Kylie Kelly [00:29:01]:
Yes. Yes. And I think as well, just to, I guess, wrap, put a bow on this, I think for anyone at the moment, so we’re recording this October of 2024 and Q4 is always like massive launching, people going for, you know, like wanting to make as much money before the end of the year. And I think launching in itself is scary because that, again, the inner critic, no one’s going to buy this. What if nobody buys? Oh my God, you’re going to be a failure. You’re going to make any money. Like it always comes up the same for everyone. Right? So I think everything that we’ve talked about today is perfect for the listener that’s about to launch or go into a launch period.
Kylie Kelly [00:29:36]:
Because a, think about the worst case where you survive. Imagine the best case and you get fucking sold out and you can’t even keep up with demand. Go and put on your red lipstick and dance to a song. If I could get in your big deal energy and let’s see what happens. Right?
Leanne [00:29:51]:
Oh, absolutely. And then do that. And then please tag Kylie and myself because we wanna see you in your big deal energy. Feel like we need a collective. We need like a gang of women just unashamedly, unapologetically in their big deal energy and gone for in their businesses.
Kylie Kelly [00:30:07]:
Oh, that movement. I love that. I love that so much. Now before we let you go and wrap this up, we have to talk about this thing that you shared with me that is changing my life at the moment called a CEO week. So I’m not gonna spill any of the any of the details. Can you tell us, please, like CEO weeks, how did you come up with it, and what exactly is it?
Leanne [00:30:30]:
So a CEO week is basically where you break your month into 2 weeks of the month. You will be doing your working with your clients, so you’re having your one to one calls in that week. And then the following week, you will have a week to work in your business. I started this because I got fully booked quite quickly and had a sometimes, like, 20 client calls over, like, the space of a week. And I was just finding that I didn’t have enough time to work in my business. I was getting burnt out. I wasn’t spending enough time with my kids, so I popped in to my weekly schedule, a CEO day on a Monday and on a Friday, and that worked okay. But on those days, I was finding that I wasn’t doing any work in my own business.
Leanne [00:31:22]:
I was just actually doing adulting and being a parent and a pet mom and stuff like that. So I took a big, brave step and decided that I wasn’t just going to have a CEO day. I was going to have a CEO week so that I could really get deep and dirty into the needle moving activities into my in my own business and also have more holidays because isn’t that what we’ve got these beautiful businesses for? To have more freedom and spend more time doing things we love. So I actually moved all of my one to 1 Zoom calls to say week a, and then week b, I don’t have any Zoom calls. I do things like this. Kylie, we’re both in sync, and we’re in our CEO weeks now. I’m doing needle moving activities in my own business on my CEO week and they alternate every month, client week, CEO week, client week, CEO week, and it is a game changer for me. And by the sounds of it, because so many people are asking me about these CEO weeks, it seems like it’s something that a lot of people want to implement in their own businesses, which you’ve just done, Kylie.
Leanne [00:32:26]:
Do you want to tell us about yours?
Kylie Kelly [00:32:29]:
So it’s been amazing. So I think, again, we cross pause at the perfect time for a lot of different reasons. But I remember you mentioning, or I think I saw your Instagram stories, you were in a CEO week. And I was like, what is this? And you told me, and at that point I was feeling super burnout. I’d been sick for for like 3 weeks. But you know when you get, and it wasn’t, it was just like congestion and a head cold, but it wouldn’t go away. And I was like, this is a sign that I am physically burnt out because I can’t seem to get better. And I was exhausted and I loved what I do, but running a membership with so many calls and we’ve got a Slack channel and I do copy reviews and I’m always serving, there was no time just to have some space to think differently, to think bigger, to do the things that have been on my to do list for a long time that I’ve never seemed to get to.
Kylie Kelly [00:33:21]:
Right? Like I was just always in the business serving. So, as soon as I felt, you know, I got sick and started to feel burnt out, I was like, oh, I need to change something right now. Otherwise, this is not going to end well. Right? I’ll get to the place where I just want to burn everything to the fucking ground because I can’t deal with it anymore. So, and it was the perfect timing because it was like the end of Q3 Q3 and I was about to do the call schedule for Q4. So I implemented it straight away. I said, you know what, guys, this is what we’re doing now because I need to look after me. This is the thing.
Kylie Kelly [00:33:50]:
Let me know if you have any questions. There was, everybody was very supportive. There was no feedback. Because I think that’s the other thing when we have clients or when we’re serving, we have a membership or a group program or something where I was like, oh, we want to make sure that they’re all happy. They’re paying me for this. Like, I want to make sure I’m delivering, but actually, and you taught me this as well in watching how you look after yourself. It’s like you gotta put yourself first because if I fall in a heap and burn myself out, then how am I gonna serve them at all? I’m not. So let’s think about this differently.
Kylie Kelly [00:34:22]:
And similarly to you, I’d had CEO days. Like, I never take calls on a Monday or a Friday, but it wasn’t enough because I was either catching up on admin or exhausted or
Leanne [00:34:31]:
and it just didn’t really do anything. So I know
Kylie Kelly [00:34:31]:
I’m or exhausted or and it just didn’t really do anything. So I know I’m early in this CEO week game, but I am loving it so far. Oh, I’m so happy, Kylie.
Leanne [00:34:40]:
And you you implemented it so quickly, which tells me that it was much needed, right? You didn’t faff around.
Kylie Kelly [00:34:50]:
No, that is me though. I do do things quick, generally speaking, but yeah, no, I was, I was really appreciative. So, yeah, I, I really want to encourage anyone that’s listening. If you’re resonating with what we’re talking about, like just try it because it just having that space and, not having it needs to look like Monday morning and you’re looking at the calendar for the week and to not have any calls, it just feels so different.
Leanne [00:35:13]:
It feels like this is what I’m doing it for. I love my business too and my clients, but I built it to have freedom. And when you’re backed about with calls on a schedule, on a timetable every single day, and you’re like me, Kylie. You’re serving people all over the world. You can be on pretty much from 8 AM till 9 PM. And and and you can kind of feel like, oh, I’m not sure. This is what I signed up for when I wanted to create my own business. And I I just want to add as well that yesterday, I one of my one to ones wanted a call with me this week.
Leanne [00:35:50]:
And I I replied and was like and I did feel I didn’t not that I felt bad replying, but I was just a bit like, oh, I’m gonna have to reply and see. I’m not actually taking any calls this week because it’s my CEO week. And she replied, Kylie, and she’s like, oh my god. I love that, Lianne. This is something I wanna implement in my business. And that is the feedback that I get all the time. Like, that by us setting this boundary and the spaciousness for for ourselves, Kylie, we’re giving our clients, our audience, our followers, our listeners permission to do the same. So, yes, have a see all week if you want one.
Leanne [00:36:26]:
If you if you see the term see all week and you get that little tickle in your belly like Kylie did, it’s there for a reason.
Kylie Kelly [00:36:35]:
